THIS IS MARIJATA in stores now!

The rawest and the heaviest of all African funk records. Brought to you by Voodoo Funk, released on Academy LPs with its original artwork plus lyric sheet and a rare band photograph. Please note that the sound file for this video was recorded at low resolution from an original vintage copy of this record and not from the remastered new release which of course sounds amazing and was made to be played at full volume!

Marijata's second release "Pat Thomas Introduces Marijata" is already in the pipeline. The CD edition will be released later this year and it will contain both albums.

Buy the LP here!

Fantastic. Can't wait to own a nice clean copy of both of these albums. Any plans to release the car LP as well? That's another essential record in my opinion.

While I personally really like the fazed guitar on the later version of "I need more" which is actually titled "I can say" on the 2nd LP, I don't agree that theit third LP "Pat Thomas & Marijata" (with the cover shot of Pat Thomas sitting in his convertible) warrants a 1:1 re-issue. Instead we are going to put out several 45s or an LP compilation of the best remaining other cuts by Marijata and Pat Thomas & the Sweat Beans.

Oooooh. More Marijata at take home prices! As much as I would like to splash out the $700 dollars & change for any of these records in their original form my wages won't allow it - so a comp and (especially) 7s is hugely welcomed!

Does anyone have an idea of where I could find a "silk screened" copy of the LP since it's sold-out on Academy Annex ?

Thank's !

Rad, really looking forward to that one in particular. This is Marijata sounds ace. Nice job to whomever mastered it. These are two of the greatest records ever recorded. Hope you guys keep reissuing full lengths and continue to dig deeper into this genre. About time someone did! Too many comps, full album re-releases are very very wanted. Keep them coming, we'll keep on buying. Cheers.

Hi F,

Is there going to be another pressing of this lp. I order it via my local record store a while ago and they were not able to get a copy.

I don't care much about limited pressing, but I do care about playing this on lp.

thanks and well done

Frank said...

Lg, no worries, it was only the hand silkscreened version which was limited to 150 copies. The regular version is not limited. There seems to have been some confusion because the first run was only 1.000 copies and sold out in pre-orders alone but another run was already pressed up and should hit stores in a week or two.

Thanx for your support!

Frank

cool thanks.

It seems that the last two comments were lost due to a server crash... anyway, there seems to have been some misunderstanding about the limited edition of the Marijata LP:

There was a deluxe edition with hand silkscreened covers which was limited to 150 numbered copies.

The regular issue is not limited but some stores might have only received few or no copies at all because the first pressing run of 1.000 sold out during pre-order. The second run should arrive from the plant any day and will reach stores soon.

Thank you for your support!

Thanks for making this available. When is the CD coming out? I managed to download a vinyl rip, liked it so much that I bought the re-mastered reissue mp3s at Amazon, but now I really want the CD with the liner notes and all. An hour ago, I had never heard of Marijata, I just clicked your link out of curiosity. I love that "I Walk Alone", the kind of song I could play for hours on end.

Frank said...

Hi Richie, thanks so much for your support.

We are planning to release a CD version including both, their first and 2nd album once we get to re-issuing their 2nd Lp. The first one alone would be a tough sell as a CD because the record only has four tracks...

Cheers,

Frank

Any plans on doing another run of "This is Marijata

Frank said...

Not sure, probably not. Record sale numbers are so low these days that 2nd editions don't really pay for themselves...
