Click on the image to listen.
Give it a try, even if you don't like Disco... I promise, this mix is funkier than a one trick pony scuttling down a two lane street.

Too much - keep up the amazing tunes, Frank, and good luck in your upcoming gigs - wish I could be there!

frank- these are killer mixes, esp. the afro-beat one imo! keep them coming...now i just got to buy the voodoo funk t shirt to advertise my favorite website.

calumbinho said...

Wonderful!! But where on earth did you get that Monomono track from? I love that band, but I though their only two albums were "Give the beggar a chance" and "Dawn of awareness"... are there more?? Thanks again.

calumbinho said...

(...but you are aware that these last mixes are in mono, and that sometimes only one of the 2 channels seems to be ripped, right? is that to prevent other dj's from ripping you off? if so, when are you going to reissue these gems in their original stereo form? i'm definitely gonna buy them...)

Frank said...

yeah, I intentionally recorded them in mono, this saves me 50% bandwidth. There should be signal on both channels though.
I don't worry about other djs and people who play out downloaded mp3s aren't dj's but mp3j's... haha.

Hi, Frank! It is amazing how much wonderful and unknown (at least to me) music there is stil out there somewhere. All the mixes are great but the Afro-Rock one I liked best. "What about the beauty of the rainbow" ... or what about the kindness of people who share their rare records. Many thanks!

Mambo C. said...

yiaaaah ! great great mix ... thanx a lot ! heavy serious job !

calumbinho said...

He he, that makes a lot of sense. Still, I wish there's something I could do to convince you to post the mixes back in stereo - it does make a difference when I'm blasting 'em through my speakers at home (and, significanty enough, neighbors don't complain - I just wonder if they miss the stereo mixes as well).
In any event, THANKS SO MUCH to continue to post such amazing music. It really is one of those things that make my life better.

Hi Frank,

Really enjoyed the Afro Beat and Afro Funk mixes (as well as the Nettey Family LP which is currently in regular rotation on my turntable).

Tried to listen to the other three mixes but I keep getting a message that tells me the "link appears to be broken." Hope they're not gone for good and that the links will be fixed soon.

Thanks again for everything you do,
Norm

Frank said...

hey Norm,

sorry, I have no idea how this happened but I think libsyn just altered its links on me...

Anyway, it's all fixed now so go ahead and check them all out!

Frank

Thank you for those great gifts!!

I'm justhaving some troubles in downloading Afro Rock, the link seems to be broken..

Frank said...

That's weird, there was a problem yesterday with some of the links but I fixed this. Works for me now and I tried it on another computer as well. Give it another shot and let me know if there's still a problem.

Hi Frank,

Still keeping up the good work, I see! Such a pity, wanted to see you play in Europe but didn't make it... Thanks so much for the great new mixes and I can't wait for the Psychedelic Aliens! I'm loving the video clip so much! Anyway, small question; I can't stop listening to this tune by the Cross River Nationale-guys, where are they from?

Cheers, all the best,

Frank H.

Frank said...

Hi Frank,

I might be back in Europe this November...

The Cross River Nationale are from Nigeria's Cross River State in the very Southeast of the country. This is one of my personal favorites as well. Very deep and unique sounding.

Check out this post on the excelent Likembe blog:
