Hello Frank, that's an awesome mix with a lot of terrific tracks. It's good to ear some new unknown sounds (for me)! The track starting at about 50 min sounds really BBQ's... DANGER !! DOPE INSIDE. thanks.
How can we ever praise you enough, you are doing such a wonderfull job finding all this wonderful music. It gives me hope back, thanks
Hey Cyril, you know the Barbecues or were you just guessing from the similar sound to the track on the latest Soundway comp? In any case, respect!
"Aya Lolo" is my favourite track since you posted it on december 2007 (big beats & psychedelic aliens mix). Then, i was listening the mix and just after the 50' i had an alarm in my head "BBQ's" "BBQ's" !! Anyway, it's a very good news to have a new track from them... ;)
Great photo...can't wait to get home and listen.
frank you are a machine! that photo of you in the warehouse is priceless. when are you doing another set at glasslands? just moved to nyc and i want to jam! let's get in touch!
Hi Frank,
I read about your blog in waxpoetics, just wanted to say thanks for putting all this great music up! The latest mix is awesome.

No Glasslands anymore unfortunatelly. Their sound system gave me massive headaches...
There will be a release party for the Lagos Disco Inferno double LP at Savalas in Williamsburg on Tuesday March 16th.
this mix, as the other, is terrific...thanks so much frank for all the work you're sharing....i'll be in Cotonou for the next month...will you be in the place, i'm gonna play some funky stuff from poly rythmo at a bar called "the Jammin' Bar", near the beach of fidjirossé, february, the 27th...again, thanks a lot...i often talk about you in my radio show, you've got great fan in france...
Hi Jimmy, I wish I could be there... sadly, I think it'll be a few months before I can go back to Africa.
Another great one ! Thanks !!
good stuff, thanks!
Really diggin the music, thanks. Can I respectfully request any track/artist info, as my musical palette isn't quite refined enough to know who it is I'm listening to?
Wowie zowie Frank! Thanks for sharing all that richness! Gave you & your blog some spotlight via http://uzine.posterous.com/tag/africaafro - hope 't pleases you. Thanks, congrats, best.
Seconding the request for tracklisting:) This is great.
Hi Frank, been listning to your mixes and exploring other african music since i found you blog last year. The music you are finding and posting here is truly amazing and awesome. The stories of your digging trips and a bit of history of the areas you visit is very interesting stuff and i guess the joy and excitment you proberly experience when you make some new finds is like what i use to experience when discovering new music in my youth and finding hard to get records here where i live.
I haqve listened to so much music over the last 30 years, exploring many diffrent styles and geners, and I had lost that excitment of finding something new as i had heard most of it or something like it. I was pretty much uninitiated in Afrofunk and Afrobeat untill I recently discovered Fela kuti, whom I think is just the most totally amazing musician and composer. My searching for his music and other like it led me somehow to your blog and my excitement of music has been rekindles by tis awesome stuff from Africa.
Please, A track/Artist listing for this last mix would be much appreciated. I am spiltting your mixes into their individual tracks and loading onto my Ipod to listen at work and I can start singling out my favorite tracks and finally see if i can actually find any of this online to buy, as I will proberly not find it in any shops here.
Thanks again for your awesome work, i am envious of your digs, but totally apreciative.
Roddus
Thanks for sharing another great mix (and thanks for actually digging into mountains of vinyl! The pics are crazy; glad you're salvaging the good stuff.) Nice to hear that Akwassa in the mix. That's one I'd love to see reissued. Thoroughly enjoying the music at work (and missing grasscutter: little bushmeat in TZ).
Heavy mix, as always... Many thanks
great stuff!
what is the terrific track around the 15" mark (it's in English)? Is it available anywhere?
That would be Pat Thomas with "let's think it over". I met Pat Thomas in Accra and I have licensed this song (and many more) from him for a release I'm currently working on.
thanks for the reply. Let me know when it comes out; it's a great track.
Keep up the great work with the site.
yes, great mix, fantastic!! looking forward to the show in geneva! cheers
Awesome mix. I miss tracklistings too (at least of the artists), but if all of these are going to be released and identified in the future, I'm definitely happy to groove along as I wait.
