Party at Union Pool on April 11th
Big thanx to everybody who came down to the debut on March 14th. Especially of course to the Budos Band who were absolutely mindblowing! Sorry that we sold out so early and many couldn't make it in. It was clear that the Budos Band could sell out a much bigger venue than Union Pool but it meant a lot to me to have them open up for this party.
The next Voodoo Funk party will be on April 11th and this time we're proud to present to you the best and most authentic sounding Mende act outside of West Africa:
The Mandingo Ambassadors.
It's hard to describe this music to anyone who's never heard it, just check out their myspace profile for a quick listen.

That was a great show on Saturday at Union Pool (and last month.)
Can you tell me what the name of that last track you played in your set? I asked you the name of it there and I think you said it was in one of your mixes on this site, but I forgot the title. I LOVE that tune.
Thanx for coming down to the party! The last track I played was "general gowon" by Poly Rythmo. You can find it on this mix here:

Might be their rarest record as I've never seen or heard of another copy of this LP. There also exists a 45 release but that's a completely different recording and not half as good as the LP version.
Cheers!
Frank
Great stuff, thanks again!
